Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with Andy Brophy of OneNine Images. Andy is an extremely talented and experienced photographer and I got the opportunity to have a one-on-one mentor session with him in Atlanta. He was able to answer a ton of questions I had as I enter into my first year of full time photography. One thing I loved most about the session was that Andy was extremely candid and transparent with me; he patiently answered all of my questions and didn't hold anything back. I so appreciate his vulnerability with me to share the honest truth with me about his experience in the industry. What I found interesting was that the most helpful thing I took away wasn't information that I didn't know before (although, there was a lot of that), but rather affirmation that I was actually doing a lot of things right, which was so encouraging. I got to watch him in action as he did a mini session for (the cutest) couple, which was extremely helpful. I loved seeing one of my favorite photographers at work and learn tips and tricks as I watched from behind the scenes. I highly recommend doing a one-on-one mentor session with a more experienced photographer if you haven't done so before; it is eye opening and surprisingly encouraging. Thanks, Andy!
